- Installing Oracle 8i on a Pentium IV
The installation of Oracle 8i on a Pentium IV computer will exit without any error
message, and without displaying the setup window. The problem is the existence of the
file symcjit.dll on the installation CD.
To solve the problem, first copy the entire installation CD to your hard drive. Next,
search all of the directories you just created for a file called symcjit.dll. Rename
any you find to symcjit.old. Once this has been done, you can successfully run the
SETUP.EXE installation program from your [path-you-created]\install\win32 directory on
your hard disk.
